A hand blockprinted stole in traditional Ajrak pattern, using natural (vegetable) dyes and teak wood blocks that are passed on from generation to generation.

Ajrak printing is possibly the oldest known block printing method, and dates back to Indus Valley Civilisation. It only uses natural, plant based material, and entails precise synchronising of the print on both sides of the fabric before dyeing it one colour at a time. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks to produce Ajrak, and is a laborious process.

Made in Sindh, Ajrak is a matter of pride and a cultural symbol for the natives. Artisans who worked on this have been involved in Ajrak making for decades, and the craft is passed on from one generation to another. Making the best of high temperatures during daytime by drying the fabrics between multiple dyeing and printing sessions, Ajraks and Sindh have found a rhythm of their own and we are honoured to bring this indigenous craft to Europe in its most organic form.

Measurements: 80 x 220 CM

Care: Handwash with gentle liquid detergent. Dry clean recommended. Please note that natural colours tend to run.
